Exciting Announcement: BBC Countryfile will be producing an entire episode on the Gwent Levels to be aired on St Davids Day 1st March 2020.

To celebrate the Gwent Levels’ historical landscape, rich heritage and amazing wildlife, we’ve partnered up with the Tin Shed Theatre Co. to create Big Skies Community Art Project.

The Black Spots to Bright Spots project aims to tackle the scourge of fly-tipping on the Levels.

Our team of oral historians and volunteers, have been quietly gathering and recording the memories, stories, and experiences of those who live, work, and play on the Caldicot and Wentlooge Levels.

Written and illustrated by Dr Jennifer Foster, the book follows a family of prehistoric hunter-gathers as they return to their summer camp on Goldcliff Island and their subsequent adventures.

Surveying wildlife is essential if we are to improve our understanding of the state of nature. The information gathered during surveys is very helpful as it can reveal how wildlife numbers and distribution can change in response to climate change and habitat loss.

As part of our Pollinating the Levels awareness programme, we joined forces with artist Tom Maloney and five schools in Newport.
