Historic Map Viewer
Together with local residents, historians, archaeologists, archivists and people who are curious about history, we’re creating an online map showcasing the extraordinary past of the Gwent Levels.
The Living Levels Historic Map viewer is the place where all the history, stories and discoveries of the Gwent Levels can come together in one place, ready for you to explore.
You can examine maps, both historic and modern, and delve into all the information collected and curated by our volunteers.
In order for this map to continue to grow, it needs volunteers to bring it to life. By taking a crowdsourced and community approach to mapping the region’s history, archaeology and heritage, people living in the area can reconnect with the landscape’s rich and storied past, and bring some additional and much-deserved attention to the Gwent Levels from further afield.
Interested in history? Love maps? There are many opportunities to get involved and help make this map an invaluable resource illustrating the amazing history of the Gwent Levels.
