Newport Museum tells the story of the re-display of its Prehistory exhibits from a collection spanning 200,000 years!
In partnership with Living Levels and the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Newport Museum and Art Gallery recently re-displayed its Prehistory exhibits.
Highlights of this small but significant collection include artefacts used by Neanderthals, part of a Bronze Age boat and the near complete remains of an extinct aurochs.
Using examples from this remarkable collection, Oliver Blackmore (Collections and Engagement Officer) will outline the ambition, methodology and challenges of exhibiting a collection, which covers over 200,000 years, ranging from the Middle Palaeolithic to the late Iron Age.
