Daily 9:30 – 4:30
DigVentures will be providing a programme of hands-on heritage sessions, using archaeological excavation and survey of historic buildings, landscapes and the foreshore to explore the development of Redwick. The sessions provide a taster of the various volunteer opportunities which will be available through the Autumn 2019 and into 2020, working with professional archaeologists across the Gwent Levels.
Our Redwick taster sessions will run from the 30th July to the 4th August and will include a range of activities to explore the areas past. We’ll be opening up archaeological test pits, recording historic buildings, going on a foreshore archaeology survey, and exploring the landscape for clues about the past. The week will involve testing out our new online GIS system – a mapping tool which means we can view old maps, satellite images and add new data about the heritage as we investigate.
The week will provide plenty of opportunities for people to get hands on with heritage, and you’ll be able to take part in one or all of the activities. The programme will be finalised in early June and booking will be available from the end of June via the DigVentures website.
Look out for the project page going live in June on https://digventures.com/projects/ or keep an eye on the Living Levels website.
